Student accomodation - impact on flat rental prices
->
The students represent one of the best market for renting studio flats. The start of this academic year had a similar impact on accommodation as previous years had: approx 160,000 students requested accommodation in the university halls of residence; the offer provided by universities was only approximately 101,780 places (according to Realitatea Romaneasca).
This situation leads to a spike increase in the demand for studio flats, which subsequently leads to the average rental going up by approximately €50 up to €100.
Concluding, this is one more reason why investing in studio flats in Romania and then renting them can be a good business. By no means this is a novel idea, as in UK it has been in place for years, with people embracing the buy-to-rent (for students) route.
In terms of prices, in 2006, the prices for renting a studio flat in Bucharest are:
- On outskirts approx €100/month
- Semi-central areas €250/month
- Central areas €350-400/month
