Flats for sale next to the House of Parliament in Bucharest

Sirenelor Sirens Apartments Real Estate projectHow would you fancy being a stone’s throw away from the heaviest and third largest (after a couple of aircraft hangars) building in the world (at least according to wikipedia)? Yes, an unlikely top ranking position for Romania, the House of Parliament (a.k.a. House of People during the communist era) is apparently the heaviest building in the world. What’s this got to do with real estate? Virtually next to it, a new residential development is currently being built and will be on the market in the near future. The project consists of a block of flats including 34 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments. With smallest available living space of 100sqm (including the terrace), the flats are likely to be rather generous in size, reaching 350sqm for the largest units.

The block includes a generous basement, with a 37 spaces underground car park and a 90sqm fitness centre. When ready, it will also be surrounded by a small green area. The block of flats is located in a rather quiet area, slightly secluded from the major roads surrounding the House of Parliament. Ironically though, the project is named Sirenelor Apartments, due to the fact that is located on the Sirenelor (Sirens) street.

The flats will be available for sale on the Bucharest real estate market in the Autumn of 2008, according to the developer’s website. According to the developer, Imobiliara SRL, the price of the flats will be starting from €1250/sqm. Two payment alternatives are available; the first one, which gives you a 5% discount, is paying upfront 90% of the value when the contract followed by a 10% payment when the project will be finished. The second one is rather similar (except the discount), but the payment of the 90% is in several instalments.

Although you might not have heard of the developer before, they’re clearly doing things right, as another one of their projects in the area was finished back in 2006 and is already off the market (all the flats were sold before the project was finalised).
